Anton N. Sidawy, MD, MPH, FACS, was installed as the 106th ѻýPresident at Clinical Congress 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. He succeeds Beth H. Sutton, MD, FACS.
“Dr. Sidawy brings tremendous expertise, passion, and knowledge to the role of ѻýPresident. He is exceptionally skilled at building consensus and encouraging everyone to focus on advancing our mission as the House of Surgery,” said Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS, Executive Director & CEO.
Dr. Sidawy, a vascular surgeon, is a professor of surgery and the Lewis B. Saltz Chair of the Department of Surgery at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC.
An ѻýFellow since 1987, Dr. Sidawy is a longtime leader in the ACS, serving as Chair and member of the Board of Regents, member of the Board of Governors, Past-President of the ѻýWashington Metropolitan Chapter, and leader of many committees related to those roles.
Alongside Dr. Sidawy, general surgeon Anne C. Mosenthal, MD, FACS, and pediatric surgeon Edward Barksdale Jr., MD, FACS, became first vice-president and second vice-president, respectively.
At the conclusion of the meeting, renowned surgical oncology Timonthy J. Eberlein, MD, FACS, was elected President-Elect, and trauma surgeon Sharon M. Henry, MD, FACS, and general surgeon Robert P. Sticca, MD, FACS, were elected First Vice-President-Elect and Second Vice-President-Elect, respectively. Cardiothoracic surgeon Larry R. Kaiser, MD, FACS, became Treasurer.
